Olomouc Castle

Olomouc Castle, on the hill of Saint Wenceslas also known as the cathedral hill, is one of the most important castle complexes in the Czech Republic. It grew through successive rebuildings out of an original Great Moravian stronghold and long served as the seat of the Olomouc appanage princes and later of the bishops. The older part is called the old castle. Since 1962 the castle with the church of Saint Wenceslas has been a national cultural monument and it also carries the European Heritage Label.
