Pleasurewood Hills

Pleasurewood Hills is a theme park on a 59-acre site between Corton and Gunton, near Lowestoft in Suffolk. It began in 1983 as a small American-themed family attraction with a miniature railway, Cine 180 and adventure playground. The park expanded each year, adding new rides and improving facilities. In the late 1980s it was sold to RKF, which built attractions elsewhere before going bankrupt in 1991. The park changed hands several times and was renamed New Pleasurewood Hills in 2000. In 2004 a French leisure group bought the site and restored its original name. The park is worth visiting for its mix of classic and modern rides. In 2005 owners invested £3 million to repaint and rename rides, and introduced the first inverting coaster, Wipeout, bought from the closed American Adventure. Timber Falls, a revamped log flume, opened in 2009. New attractions were added in 2012 and 2013 as part of a £1.7 million investment by Looping Group. Shows such as StreetDance have been staged in the Castle Theatre. Visitors find a variety of rides and shows across the park. Roller coasters include Wipeout, while flat rides and water rides cater for different tastes. Children’s rides and dark rides provide options for younger visitors. The Castle Theatre hosts live performances, and the park’s layout allows easy movement between attractions. Surrounded by open Suffolk countryside, the park offers a day of entertainment for families.
