Petruskirche Fischamend

The Petruskirche stands on a small hill in Fischamend, a town in Lower Austria west of the cemetery along Hainburgerstraße. It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Schwechat and falls under the Evangelical Superintendentur A. B. Niederösterreich. The church replaced a 1785 deconsecrated and 1944 destroyed baroque chapel, rebuilt in 1964. Its simple design faces south beneath a gabled roof, with a tower rising from the southern side. The windows form continuous bands and feature ornamental stained glass. The exterior remains unadorned, reflecting the restrained style of mid-20th-century Lutheran architecture. Inside, the space is modest and bright, with the altar positioned to catch southern light through the window bands. The ornamented glass casts coloured patterns across the walls and floor. The tower houses a bell that rings over the surrounding residential area. The churchyard slopes gently away from the building, offering quiet views of Fischamend’s low-rise streets.
