Schloss Sachsenflur

Schloss Sachsenflur stands in the village of Sachsenflur near Lauda-Königshofen in the Main-Tauber district of Baden-Württemberg. Built originally as a deep moated castle in the 13th century, it was later transformed into a small palace during the 15th and 16th centuries. The site has been known since 1200, when it first appeared in records as a fortified stronghold. The building is a fine example of a Frankish country noble residence, with a distinctive angled wing and a stair tower. Its oldest timber-framed sections date back to the 16th century, while parts of the structure still show late Gothic and early Renaissance influences. A later Baroque remodelling can also be seen in the overall design. Visitors find a compact palace set within quiet village surroundings. The core structure includes the original wings and the stair tower, giving a sense of the building’s layered history. The modest scale and preserved details reflect the life of a local noble family over several centuries.
