Pizleshorn

The Pizleshorn is a 2,942-metre peak in the Lasörling range on the border between Prägraten am Großvenediger and St. Jakob in Defereggen. Its name comes from the Romansh word for ‘small peaks’. The first ascent was made on 1 August 1882 by F. J. Noltz and F. Leitner. The mountain sits where two valleys meet: the Lasnitzenbach valley to the north and the Tögischer Bachl valley to the south. Between them lies the Prägrater Törl pass at 2,853 metres. To the south-west the Blindissee lake lies below the Blindis, while the Tögischer Bachl stream begins on the south-west flanks. The Blindissee is the only named lake in the area. Walkers usually reach the summit via the Prägrater Törl from Tögisch up the Tögischer Bachl valley. From the pass the final climb follows the north-east ridge. A harder route starts from the Pizlesscharte and uses the west-north-west ridge. The south ridge, known as the Fadengrat, and the south-west face are more technical climbs.
