Lasörling Group

The Lasörling Group is a subgroup of the Central Alps in the Eastern Alps. It lies in East Tyrol between the Virgental valley to the north and the Defereggental valley to the south. The range forms the south-eastern part of the Venediger Group according to an agreement by Alpine clubs in 1984. Older classifications included it within the Defereggen Mountains. The highest peak is the Lasörling at 3,098 metres, which gives the group its name. The Lasörling Group is bordered by several municipalities. Matrei in Osttirol, Virgen and Prägraten am Großvenediger lie in the Virgental valley. In the Defereggental valley, the group extends into Hopfgarten, Sankt Veit and Sankt Jakob. Sometimes the neighbouring Panargenkamm is also considered part of the Lasörling Group. Its highest mountain there is the Keeseck at 3,173 metres. Visitors find rugged Alpine terrain with high summits and deep valleys. The Lasörling and Keeseck peaks dominate the skyline. The valleys below offer walking paths through forests and meadows. Views stretch across the Central Alps and Eastern Alps. The contrast between high peaks and gentle valleys creates striking scenery. The area is known for its quiet, unspoilt mountain environment.
