Krapfenkar Spitze

The Krapfenkarspitze is a 2,109-metre peak in the Soierngruppe of the Karwendel range in Upper Bavaria. It stands above steep valleys and alpine meadows, its summit offering wide views over the Northern Limestone Alps. The mountain is reached by routes that demand sure-footedness and a head for heights, one starting from the Oswaldhütte in the Rißtal valley. The climb passes landmarks such as the Galgenstangenkopf at 1,806 metres and the Fermerskopf at 1,851 metres before reaching the summit ridge. An alternative route runs from the Soiernhaus via the Gumpenkarspitze, adding variety to the approach. Both paths reward walkers with solitude and sweeping panoramas across the Karwendel. On the summit visitors find a small cross and room for a few people to stand at once. The surrounding peaks include the Baierkarspitze and the Soiernspitze, while below lie green high pastures and dark conifer forests. The air is clearest in early morning, when the first sunlight strikes the limestone faces.
