Constructa-Brunnen

The Constructa-Brunnen stands in Hannover’s Südstadt district beside the Wildermuthweg where it meets Hildesheimer Straße. It is a small, protected fountain square that families with young children use daily. The surrounding Constructa-Block gives the place its name and character.
The fountain’s cast-iron basin was designed in 1962 by architect Konstanty Gutschow. Artist Theo Blume added colourful enamel flowers whose centres spout water when the pump runs. After a long closure starting in early 2016, restoration began with advice from the city’s heritage office. Repair of sewers and paving around the basin raised the total cost to more than sixty thousand euros.
Visitors find a quiet circular basin set in a paved plaza. Enameled petals in blues and greens catch the light, and water rises gently from their centres. The restored fountain now runs again, marking the spot where neighbours meet and children play.
