Pfarrkirche Solarcity

The parish church of Solarcity stands in the Pichling district of Linz, part of the larger Ebelsberg area in Upper Austria. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Linz and serves as a parish church dedicated to Saint Elijah under the deanery of Linz-Süd. The building was completed in 2006 and designed by architects Helmut Pointner and Herbert Pointner from Freistadt. The church was designed in a postmodern style and includes a pastoral centre as part of the Solarcity development. A photovoltaic system on the roof generates electricity during the day, which is then used to light the church at night. The building was elevated to parish status by Bishop Ludwig Schwarz shortly after its completion. Inside, visitors find a modern interior with clean lines and natural light. The pastoral centre offers spaces for community gatherings and religious services. The surrounding Solarcity area is a residential district known for its sustainable design and integration with the urban landscape. The church serves as both a spiritual and architectural landmark in the neighbourhood.
