Sulzkopf

The Sulzkopf stands at 1,279 metres in the Bavarian Pre-Alps, forming a two-kilometre ridge with the Rechelkopf and Mitterberg to the south. The northern slope is called Vorberg, while the Rechenbach stream rises west of the ridge between Sulzkopf and Rechelkopf. The mountain is covered in forest except for a small summit clearing. A quiet peak rarely visited, it rewards those who reach the top with wide views over the Isar valley. Walkers can climb from the Schwaiger Alm via forest tracks, while mountain bikers follow similar routes before tackling the final section without a path. The route is straightforward enough for a half-day excursion. At the summit the open patch is small but offers sweeping vistas across the valley below. The forest paths wind through mixed woodland, and the air remains cool even on warmer days. The route back follows the same tracks, returning to the starting point through peaceful countryside.
