Eilean nan Deargannan

Eilean nan Deargannan is a small island in Loch Lomond, Scotland. It lies between the villages of Inverbeg and Rowardennan on the loch’s western shore. The name means ‘Isle of the Fleas’ in Gaelic, a reminder of the island’s past uses. The island is uninhabited and covered with dense woodland. It stretches about 80 metres from end to end and rises no higher than six metres above the water. Its modest size and quiet setting make it a peaceful spot away from the busier shores nearby. Visitors reach the island by boat from either Inverbeg or Rowardennan. Once ashore, they find a sheltered shoreline and a short path winding through the trees. The view across the loch takes in the Highland hills and the forested islands that dot the water.
