Pfarrkirche Schwarzenbach

The parish church in Schwarzenbach stands in the market town of the same name in the Wiener Neustadt district of Lower Austria. It is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew and belongs to the Kirchschlag deanery within the Vienna archdiocese. The building is protected as a listed monument. The present church was built in 1767 under Prince Nikolaus I Esterházy after the previous structure was burned by Kuruzzen raiders in 1707. The tower, originally from 1609, was repositioned during the rebuilding and now rises above the choir. Inside, a mix of baroque and modern furnishings includes a restored image of Saint Bartholomew on the high altar and a 19th-century organ by Josef Mauracher. Visitors enter a single-vaulted nave in the late-rococo style. The sacrament chapel holds a baroque tabernacle and a statue of the Virgin and Child. On the walls hang Stations of the Cross and images of Saint John of Nepomuk and the Immaculate Conception. A modern crucifix group and people’s altar stand at the front.
