Evangelische Pfarrkirche Unterhaus-Millstätter See

The Evangelische Kirche Unterhaus stands in the village of Unterhaus, part of Seeboden in Carinthia. It serves as the parish church for the local Protestant community and has been protected as a listed building since its construction. A wooden prayer house built in 1783 was replaced by the current structure, which became an independent parish in 1875. The church’s design reflects its history, with a three-bay nave supported by transverse arches and a rounded apse. The altar stands free in the apse, featuring a painted depiction of the Last Supper. The pulpit dates from the late classical period, and the tower on the façade was added in 1858. Renovations in 1872, 1926, 1980 and 2005 have preserved its appearance. Inside, visitors find the Kucher organ on the gallery, built in 1903 with nine stops and a single manual. The organ’s pedal board and couplers allow for varied musical expression. The church’s restrained classical style and carefully maintained furnishings create a calm space for worship and reflection.
