Geyer-Schloss Reinsbronn

Schloss Reinsbronn stands in the village of Reinsbronn near Creglingen in Baden-Württemberg. It began as a water castle built in the 13th century and was later transformed into a Renaissance-style schloss in 1587 by Philip Geyer. The castle once had four wings and a moat, with arcades and a stair tower still visible today. Over the centuries it fell into disrepair, and in 1923 parts of the north-east corner collapsed. Since then owners have gradually restored what remains. The castle is protected as a monument and shows traces of its Gothic core and later Renaissance additions. Philip Geyer paid 23,000 gulden for the site and hired master builder Michel Nicklas to complete the conversion by 1588. After changing hands several times, the Mack family restored the castle over four decades starting in 1967. Today it serves as holiday flats, a venue for weddings and seminars, and hosts cultural events. Visitors find the remaining wings and the arcaded inner courtyard with its stair tower from the Renaissance period. The castle’s grounds include the former moat area and remnants of the old walls. Inside, four apartments are available to rent alongside the owner’s private residence. The village’s singing club and theatre group use the courtyard for summer serenades and open-air performances.
