In 2004 the growing holdings moved into the new headquarters, and in 2007 the museum gained full accreditation as a museum service. Visitors can see medical equipment, uniforms and fundraising posters alongside photographs, letters and films that record the society’s work in wartime and peacetime. The archives cover every local branch and every major operation, including the two world wars. The displays show how the society raised money, trained volunteers and delivered aid both at home and overseas. Items donated by families of nurses and aid workers add personal voices to the official records. Inside, the museum occupies a single gallery lined with display cases and information panels. A long timeline runs along one wall, marking key events from 1870 to the present day. Visitors find uniforms worn by nurses in the First World War, stretchers and first-aid kits used during air raids, and letters written by volunteers serving abroad. Photographs and film clips play on small screens, showing relief convoys in Europe and aid posts in British cities. Outside the gallery, the building’s foyer displays larger objects such as a wartime ambulance and a mobile canteen used during the Blitz.
