Aquacity
The Aquacity is a large indoor swimming complex in St Pölten, Lower Austria. It stands between the Schießstattring road and the town promenade on the site of the old municipal pool. The building covers more than six thousand square metres and was created by a full refurbishment of the 1966 hall that finished in late 2005. Inside there are two sport pools, one twenty-five metres long and one sixteen-point-six metres long, both with lanes and a diving tower. A new whirlpool offers floor bubbles, a flow channel and a wave bay, while a small children’s area has a shallow stream. The main attraction is the seventy-two-metre Black Hole flume that passes beneath the main basin and records each rider’s time. A sauna landscape with steam bath and solarium, massage rooms and a café complete the offer. The complex sits next to the town’s summer outdoor pool and the linked Schotterseen lakes to the north. The Ratzersdorfer See has free entry beside paid parking, while the Viehofner Seen are more natural with a swimming jetty and viewing tower. Both lakes can be reached on foot or by bike across the bridge opened in 2006.
