Stob na Cruaiche

Stob na Cruaiche is a mountain top in the Scottish Highlands. It lies on the route from Loch Leven to Rannoch Station. The summit has a small cairn marking the highest point. The mountain is listed as a Marilyn, a Graham and a HuMP in Scottish hill classifications. Several hill-climbing groups maintain these lists on the Database of British and Irish Hills. The peak stands out for its clear summit view over the surrounding glens. It is one of the many hills in Perth and Kinross that attract walkers. The route to the top follows a broad ridge with no technical climbing required. The name is Gaelic, and local sources try to keep the original form alive. At the top the walker finds open moorland stretching to distant horizons. The cairn is the only man-made feature on the summit plateau. The air is usually fresh, carrying the scent of heather and peat. From here the eye can trace the line of Loch Leven far below. The return walk follows the same ridge, giving a steady descent back to the starting point.
