Kath. Pfarrkirche hll. Peter und Paul

The Catholic parish church of Saints Peter and Paul stands on a raised platform in the centre of Wilfleinsdorf, a village in Bruck an der Leitha district, Lower Austria. Built on medieval foundations, the church has been enlarged and remodelled several times since a parish existed there before 1248. After damage in 1683, the nave was rebuilt in 1717–18 while older parts remained. The church mixes styles from different centuries. A high Romanesque apse from the 12th century and a late Romanesque side chapel from the early 13th century form the core. Around 1737 an east tower was added, and the whole building was given Baroque touches about 1700. Outside, the west cemetery wall has a Baroque gateway with pilasters and vases above a round-arched portal topped by a triangular gable and a niche figure. Inside, a flat classical-style high altar from 1850 shows Saints Peter and Paul painted by Bonaventura Leon Emler. Nearby stands a wooden statue of Saint John the Evangelist made about 1720, while three neo-Gothic statues date from around 1900. The organ, built by Jacob Deutschmann in 1834, has eight stops and a marble-effect classical case.
