Theater RambaZamba

The RambaZamba Theatre is a private inclusive theatre with its own venue in the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. Founded in 1990, it grew from a small project into a permanent cultural institution. The ensemble includes 29 artists with disabilities who perform regularly on its two stages. The building also houses an atelier where visual artists with impairments create and sell their work. The theatre stands out for its professional approach and national reputation. Up to eight new productions and around 100 performances appear each season. It tours widely across Germany and abroad, building a loyal audience. The theatre cooperates with a local workshop for people with disabilities, giving actors permanent jobs. Public funding from Berlin’s Senate supports its daily work. Visitors find two stages inside a converted brewery building. The foyer often displays artworks made in the atelier by resident artists.
