Morven

Morven is a mountain in Aberdeenshire, northern Scotland. It stands 868 metres above sea level and rises 383 metres above the surrounding terrain. The base stretches 21 kilometres wide. The land around it is mostly rugged hills, though the ground flattens out toward the east. The nearest town, Aboyne, lies sixteen kilometres away. Mixed woodland covers much of the lower slopes. The mountain’s height and broad base make it a landmark on the skyline. Its slopes carry paths used by walkers and climbers throughout the year. The contrast between the steep western side and the gentler eastern slopes offers varied routes. The flat ground to the east opens views across open country. The mixed forest below adds colour and shelter to the lower reaches. Visitors find wide tracks and narrow footpaths winding up the mountain.
