Pen Pumlumon Llygad-bychan

Pen Pumlumon Llygad-bychan is a small summit on the Plynlimon massif in the Cambrian Mountains of Ceredigion, Wales. It sits just below the higher Pen Pumlumon Fawr and ranks as the third highest point on the massif. The ground around the top is soft and boggy, with only a few stones marking the spot. The area is remote, with no name shown on Ordnance Survey walking maps. From the summit, the land falls away in all directions to other hills and ridges. The views stretch far across the Welsh uplands. To the south, Rhos Fawr, Drygarn Fawr and Pen y Garn rise above the moorland. To the north, the eye follows the line of Aran Fawddwy, Glasgwm, Tarrenhendre and Tarren y Gesail. These hills form a broad arc around the massif, their slopes covered in heather and rough grass. Nearby, the River Wye begins its long journey just south of the summit. A short walk north leads to Llyn Llygad Rheidiol, a glacial lake set in a hollow among the hills. The water lies still beneath the open sky, reflecting the changing light of the upland weather.
