Untere Wildgrubenspitze

The Untere Wildgrubenspitze is the highest peak in the Lechquellen Mountains, standing at 2,753 metres above sea level. It lies west of the Zürs ski resort in Vorarlberg, Austria, offering a striking presence in the rugged landscape. The mountain is also known as the Große Wildgrubenspitze, though this name is rarely used. About a kilometre to the north is the Obere Wildgrubenspitze, which reaches 2,625 metres. The contrast between the two peaks adds to the dramatic scenery of the area. Climbing the Untere Wildgrubenspitze presents a challenge, with routes graded from II to III on the UIAA scale. The most common path starts from the Ravensburger Hut, passing through the Schneegrube and Nadelscharte before reaching the southwest arête. The northern approach, starting from Zürsersee, is gentler and equipped with wire cables for safety. This variety of routes caters to different levels of experience among hikers and mountaineers.
