Cambridge Judge Business School

Cambridge Judge Business School stands on the site of the old Addenbrooke’s Hospital beside Trumpington Street, close to the Fitzwilliam Museum in central Cambridge. The converted hospital buildings and new wings designed by John Outram form the core of the campus. Named after benefactor Paul Judge, the school opened in 1995 with a ceremony attended by Queen Elizabeth II. A decade later it became Cambridge Judge Business School, part of the University’s School of Technology. The Simon Sainsbury Centre, added in 2018, provides extra teaching space for executives and researchers. The school is worth visiting for its record in research and teaching. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework it ranked first in the UK for business and management studies. Its Executive Education department holds B Corp certification, showing a commitment to social and environmental standards. The school runs eight subject groups and several research centres, including the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance and the El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics and Policy. These centres attract attention from regulators and policy makers worldwide. Inside, visitors find adapted hospital wards turned into lecture rooms and seminar spaces. The Ark, the Castle and the Gallery buildings add modern facilities alongside the original arcades. The campus sits within the Silicon Fen area, home to Accelerate Cambridge, the university’s entrepreneurship accelerator. Outside, Trumpington Street leads quickly to the Fitzwilliam Museum and the heart of the historic city.
