Carnedd gron Carn Saith-Wraig

A round cairn from the late Stone Age and early Bronze Age stands on a gentle slope in the parish of Llanddewi Brefi in Ceredigion. The site is marked on maps at grid reference SN771529, a quiet spot among rolling fields. Its builders placed stones in a low circular heap to cover a burial, a common practice in that period. Cadw has listed the cairn as a scheduled ancient monument under number CD255. The same Neolithic and Bronze Age people who raised this mound also built chambered tombs, burial mounds, stone circles, hillforts and standing stones across the landscape. Their stone structures show how communities organised themselves and honoured their dead. Visitors find a simple grassy mound about a metre high, surrounded by farmland and moorland. There are no fences or barriers, so the cairn can be walked around and viewed from all sides. The open setting gives long views over the countryside of central Wales. The site is best reached by following farm tracks from Llanddewi Brefi village.
