Hanger Lane tube station

Hanger Lane is a London Underground station in the London Borough of Ealing. It stands where the Central line branch to West Ruislip meets the A40 Western Avenue and the A406 North Circular Road. The station sits above ground while its ticket hall lies beneath a busy roundabout called the Hanger Lane Gyratory System. Pedestrians reach the ticket hall through subways under the traffic. The Central line runs between Perivale and North Acton, placing Hanger Lane in fare zone three. The station opened in 1947 after earlier railway halts had closed during two world wars. Its name comes from the nearby Hanger Lane road. In 2012 the building was repainted and new roundels were added. A major upgrade began in 2025 to add lifts and a footbridge, making the station step-free by 2026. Plans for an interchange with the Piccadilly line have not yet been built. Visitors find a simple station above ground with a subsurface ticket hall. The surrounding area is dominated by the large roundabout and nearby business parks. Bus routes stop outside, linking the station to other parts of west and north-west London. The upgrade work will soon provide easier access to the platforms.
