Meeting of Three Waters

The Meeting of Three Waters is a rare junction where three rivers meet at sharp right angles in Glen Coe. The rivers Allt Coire Gabhail and Allt Doire-bheith flow into the River Coe between Coire Gabhail and Allt-na-ruigh cottage. The spot appears on Ordnance Survey maps at grid reference NN17404 56361. Ordnance Survey first recorded the location in the 19th century, as seen in the 1870 survey held by the National Library of Scotland. The name is now often wrongly given to a nearby waterfall on the Allt Lairig Eilde beside the A82 road. That fall is actually Glencoe Waterfall, but many online sources repeat the mistake. The true meeting point remains clearly marked on official maps. Visitors find the junction by following paths through Glen Coe. The rivers run close to the A82, yet the spot feels quiet and remote. The surrounding glen rises steeply with dramatic ridges. The meeting itself is subtle, marked only by the angle of the water. The contrast between the rushing rivers and the still landscape draws walkers and photographers.
