Theater Blaue Maus
The smallest theatre in Munich is the dasvinzenz, a tiny cellar venue in the Neuhausen district. It sits below street level in the basement of Elvirastraße 17a, reached by a red spiral staircase from the foyer. The space holds just forty-four seats and is awkwardly shaped, yet it has staged modern plays since 1993. The programme focuses on fresh adaptations of contemporary writing. Texts by Ernst Jandl, Kurt Schwitters, Daniil Charms, Ror Wolf and Robert Gernhardt form the starting point. With the dramaturg Beate Zeller and guest actors or musicians, these works become new stage pieces, often premiered here. Once a year a Saarland comedy is added to the season. Since 2018 the theatre has been run by Robert Spitz under the name dasvinzenz, chosen to reflect its place in the Vinzenzviertel. A local support group, Blaue Maus e. V., helps fund its work. The theatre remains part of the Freie Szene München network, continuing the legacy of the original Blaue Maus.
