Ruislip Manor tube station

Ruislip Manor station stands in the London Borough of Hillingdon, on the Uxbridge branches of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines. It sits on Victoria Road where the line crosses a bridge, with two curved entrances leading down to the platforms by stairways. The station is in fare zone six and lies between Ruislip to the west and Eastcote to the east. The nearest Central line station is Ruislip Gardens. The line through Ruislip Manor was built by the Metropolitan Railway between Harrow on the Hill and Uxbridge. The station opened as Ruislip Manor Halt on 5 August 1912, when new residential areas were expanding in west Middlesex. District line trains served the branch from 1910 until Piccadilly line trains took over on 23 October 1933. Passenger numbers rose sharply in the 1930s, from 17,000 in 1931 to 1.25 million in 1937. A rebuilt station opened on 26 June 1938 to handle the increase. The station was rebuilt again in 2005–2006, though local Green Party members noted that disability access was not improved. Visitors find two platforms served by both Metropolitan and Piccadilly line trains. The Metropolitan line runs express services eastbound in weekday mornings and all-stations trains at other times. Piccadilly line trains run every few minutes to Cockfosters or Uxbridge, with earlier starts at weekends. Several London bus routes stop outside the station. The platforms have stairways but no lifts after the 2005–2006 rebuild.
