Federation of European Biochemical Societies

FEBS is an international scientific society based in Cambridge that promotes biochemistry and molecular biology across Europe and beyond. Founded in 1964, it brings together over 35,000 members through 39 constituent societies. The organisation supports research through grants, fellowships and travel awards for early-career scientists. It also runs an annual Congress, the Young Scientists’ Forum and FEBS Advanced Courses. FEBS collaborates with bodies such as the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the European Molecular Biology Organization. The society recognises excellence with prizes including the Sir Hans Krebs Medal, the FEBS/EMBO Women in Science Award and the Datta and Theodor Bücher medals. FEBS publishes four journals: The FEBS Journal, FEBS Letters, Molecular Oncology and FEBS Open Bio. Two of these, Molecular Oncology and FEBS Open Bio, are open-access titles. The FEBS Journal was formerly known as the European Journal of Biochemistry. Visitors to FEBS find a modern research hub in Cambridge that fosters scientific exchange and education.
