FCK-Museum

The FCK-Museum stands inside the Fritz-Walter-Stadion in Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz. It tells the story of 1. FC Kaiserslautern, one of Germany’s most respected clubs. The museum grew from an initiative led by former president Norbert Thines. In May 2010 the club decided to create the museum. The first public display opened in March 2011 in the Logenturm Nordost. Regular opening began in September 2011 with guided tours for visitors. The museum’s main section, FCK International, shows photographs from international tournaments where FCK players starred. It covers the 1954 World Cup final, the 2006 World Cup in Kaiserslautern, national team players and referee Markus Merk. Two parts of the work in progress exhibition trace the museum’s own creation and call for fan donations. The second part, opened in July 2012, organises exhibits chronologically and includes loans from fan clubs. A new permanent display is being developed from 2022 onwards. Visitors walk through rooms on the Fritz-Walter-Museumsebene in the Osttribüne. They see framed match posters, historic shirts, trophies and personal items of club legends. The space also hosts rotating special exhibitions, such as the 2023 show marking 25 years since the German championship. Large windows look out over the pitch below. The atmosphere combines football memorabilia with the stadium’s everyday sounds and light.
