Evang Pfarrkirche
The Evangelical parish church in Nickelsdorf stands in the Lower Main Street of the small Burgenland village. It is a modest Lutheran church built in 1787 as a Tolerance church and placed under monument protection. The building was raised to parish status in 1865 after decades of growth in the local Protestant community. The church’s octagonal three-storey tower with its pointed spire was added in 1823 on the north-west side. Inside, a three-bay nave is covered by trough vaults between double ribs on double pilasters. Wooden posts carry a three-sided balcony that runs round the interior. A single bell, purchased in 1797, still hangs in the tower. The centrepiece is a late-18th-century pulpit altar framed by Ionic columns and topped by a canopy. Above the pulpit hangs a lamb figure, and the organ case, built by Franz Ullmann in 1862, stands at the rear. The church’s plain white walls and simple furnishings reflect its origins as a Tolerance church built after the Patent of Toleration.
