Mount Blair

Mount Blair stands in the Grampian Mountains of Perth and Kinross, a 900-metre peak on the old drove road from Braemar to Montrose. A small triangulation pillar marks the summit, where the view stretches over the surrounding glens and moors. The mountain lies within a landscape of heather and granite, far from any town. It is recognised by three hill lists: Marilyn for its relative height, Graham for its broad summit plateau, and HuMP for its topographic prominence. Hill-walkers use these lists to plan routes and measure their achievements. The Database of British and Irish Hills collects and verifies the data behind these lists. Visitors follow grassy paths that climb from Glen Isla or Glen Clova. The final slope is gentle but long, rewarding walkers with a wide horizon of the Cairngorms and the Sidlaws. On clear days the North Sea can be glimpsed to the east. The summit itself is a simple grassy dome with the pillar at its highest point.
