Plymouth shooting

The shooting took place in Keyham, a suburb of Plymouth in South West England. Keyham sits close to the city centre, bordered by residential streets and small local shops. The area includes Biddick Drive, Henderson Place and Bedford Street, where most of the incident unfolded. Royal Navy Avenue runs through the heart of the neighbourhood, linking homes with a nearby park. Devon and Cornwall Police later described thirteen separate crime scenes within the cordoned area. Emergency services arrived within six minutes of the first emergency call at 18:11. The tragedy left five people dead and two injured. The victims ranged in age from three to sixty-six, including Davison’s mother, a young girl and her father, a neighbour and a man in the park. Police believe a legally owned pump-action shotgun was used throughout. The South Western Ambulance Service sent hazardous area response teams, air ambulances and specialist paramedics to the scene. One woman survived long enough to be taken to Derriford Hospital but later died from her wounds. Visitors to Keyham today see a quiet residential area marked by the events of 12 August 2021. The houses on Biddick Drive and Henderson Place remain ordinary family homes. A hairdresser’s shop stands on Henderson Place where the last fatal shooting occurred. The park where the 59-year-old man was killed lies a short walk away along Royal Navy Avenue. The neighbourhood’s streets bear no plaques or memorials, and life continues much as before.
