Melach

The Melach is a river in Tyrol, Austria. It flows through the western part of the Innsbruck-Land District. The river begins where several smaller streams meet at the foot of the Lisenser Fernerkogel. It winds through the villages of Gries and Sellrain. After 23.4 kilometres, it joins the Inn between Unterperfuss and Kematen. The Melach is a right tributary of the Inn. Its length and route make it an important waterway in the region. The river’s source is high in the mountains, where meltwater feeds the streams. As it descends, it passes through quiet valleys and open landscapes. The Melach’s clear waters reflect the surrounding peaks and forests. Visitors to the area can follow paths along the river’s banks. The route offers views of alpine meadows and rocky slopes. Small bridges cross the Melach at several points. The river’s quiet flow contrasts with the steep mountains nearby. The landscape around the Melach is peaceful and largely untouched by development.
