Rodney Parade

Rodney Parade stands in Newport, South Wales, beside the River Usk in the city centre. It sits on Rodney Road, a short walk from the bus and railway stations via Newport Bridge or the footbridge. The ground has two covered stands along the touchlines and uncovered terraces at the north and south ends. A tented fanzone and floodlit training area lie north of the North Terrace. The rugby clubhouse and Rodney Hall sit further north along Grafton Road. The ground is home to Dragons RFC and Newport County football club. It is the third-oldest Football League venue in Britain. In 1879 it hosted the first floodlit rugby match in Wales. The stadium has hosted six full international rugby matches. The Bisley Stand’s upper tier includes hospitality boxes and a gantry for television cameras pointing west across the city. Temporary stands have been added for major FA Cup ties. Visitors find the Candleston Stand on the west side with a two-tier structure and a standing terrace below. The east stand seats 2,526 and holds food outlets and the ticket office. Away football fans occupy block F of the east stand and a small uncovered stand at the South End. The memorial gates at Rodney and Grafton Roads are Grade II listed, built in 1923–24 to honour club members lost in the First World War.
