Mölltaler Polinik

The Mölltaler Polinik is the highest mountain in the Kreuzeck group, part of the High Tauern range in Carinthia. It stands south of the villages of Flattach and Obervellach in the Möll Valley. The peak reaches 2,784 metres above sea level. Two main routes lead to the summit from the valley below. One path starts at the Polinikhaus lodge, which sits at 1,873 metres. The climb from Obervellach follows a footpath past the Polinikhaus to the top. From Flattach, walkers enter the Ragga Ravine, a protected natural monument. A wooden boardwalk winds through the ravine, crossing several waterfalls on the way up. The route ends at the Raggaalm pasture before the final ascent to the summit. The Ragga Ravine itself is a highlight, with its deep gorge and cascading water. The Polinikhaus provides a place to rest during the climb. The views from the top stretch across the High Tauern range and down into the Möll Valley. The contrast between the rugged ravine and the open summit makes the journey memorable.
