Pfarrkirche hl. Martin, Weng im Innkreis

The parish church of Weng im Innkreis stands in the village of Weng in Upper Austria. It is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Martin and belongs to the deanery of Altheim-Aspach. The church and its adjoining cemetery are protected as historic monuments. The church dates back to 1070, with the late-Gothic tufa structure built around 1490. In 1733, the tower was heightened in the Baroque style by master mason Johann Michael Vierthaler, adding a bell chamber and a double onion dome. Inside, the single-nave hall has a net-ribbed vault, while the slightly recessed choir has a five-sided end and its own net-ribbed vault. A two-storey west gallery occupies the first bay, with the lower level showing Gothic net-ribbed vaulting and the upper level Baroque detailing. Visitors find a mix of Gothic, Baroque and later styles. The high altar is a grand Baroque piece from 1668, while the side altars are neo-Gothic. A late-Gothic fresco of the Annunciation, restored in 1935, adorns the choir. The oldest bell, dated about 1460, hangs alongside four bells cast in 1950 by Pfundner of Vienna and a 1794 bell by Carl Anton Gugg of Braunau. The organ, originally built in 1774 by Anton Bayr, now has ten registers after earlier restorations.
