East End Park

East End Park is a football stadium in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. It sits on land once bought from the North British Railway company in 1920. The ground started life in 1885 a little further west before moving to its present site. Four stands now surround the pitch: the East Stand, Main Stand, North Stand and Norrie McCathie Stand. Under-soil heating keeps the pitch playable in winter. The stadium has been home to Dunfermline Athletic since the club’s formation. The ground has witnessed highs and lows since 1885. A wooden stand and terracing gave way to a two-tier Main Stand in 1962 after the club won the Scottish Cup. The record crowd of 27,816 came in 1968 when Celtic visited. Greyhound racing helped keep the club alive in the early 1930s. Polish and British army units used the ground during the Second World War. More recently the stadium switched to an all-seater layout and gained a new name through sponsorship. Visitors find a modern stadium with four distinct stands. The Main Stand holds the club offices and hospitality areas. The Vertu Community Stand on the east side supports local events. The Norrie McCathie Stand runs along the northern touchline. The pitch itself has seen both artificial and natural surfaces. Outside, Halbeath Road borders the southern edge while the rest is enclosed by fences and gates.
