Balmangan Tower

Balmangan Tower stands in the rolling hills of Dumfries and Galloway, near the village of Borgue. It is a ruined rectangular stone tower, built in the 16th century. The entrance door is on the east side, while a blocked carriage gate can be seen on the south wall. A spiral staircase in the north-east corner leads down to a vaulted cellar. The remains now serve as a storage cellar for a nearby farmhouse. The tower is recognised as a Category B listed building by Historic Scotland. This listing reflects its historical significance and architectural interest. Despite its ruined state, the structure remains an important example of a 16th-century tower house.
