RADA Studios

RADA Studios stands in Chenies Street, Bloomsbury, just east of Tottenham Court Road in London’s West End. The building was designed in the 19th century as the headquarters for a volunteer rifle corps. It later became known as The Drill Hall and developed a strong artistic reputation. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art took over the lease in the 21st century. Inside, there are rehearsal rooms, meeting rooms and a 200-seat Studio Theatre. The venue has a history tied to major cultural figures and events. Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes rehearsed here in the early 1900s. During the Second World War it hosted Ralph Reader’s Gang Shows for troops. In the 1980s it became a theatre supporting works with gay and lesbian themes.
