Canada Square

Canada Square stands at Canary Wharf in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is a modern open space surrounded by three of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom. One Canada Square once held the title of the tallest building in the country from 1990 until late 2010. The square takes its name from Canada, reflecting the origins of its developers, Olympia and York. The Reichmann family from Toronto owned the site and organised the complex. Two transport links serve the area: Canary Wharf Underground station on the Jubilee line and Canary Wharf DLR station on the Docklands Light Railway. The square is worth the journey for its striking urban setting and architectural scale. One Canada Square’s former height made it a landmark of late 20th-century development.
