Berwick Lighthouse

Berwick Lighthouse stands on the northern edge of England, where the River Tweed meets the North Sea. It marks the entrance to a historic port town that has shifted between English and Scottish rule for centuries. The lighthouse sits on a narrow spit of land, surrounded by tidal waters and open coastal skies. The journey is worth it for the view alone. From here the North Sea stretches eastward, and the border with Scotland lies just a few miles north. Inside, visitors find a simple white tower rising from a stone base. A short path leads from the car park to the lantern room, where the beam still turns each night. Beyond the lighthouse, the wide beach and low dunes stretch towards Berwick’s medieval walls and Georgian streets.
