Rittergut Krüssau
Rittergut Krüssau stands in the village of Krüssau, now part of the town of Möckern in Saxony-Anhalt. The estate once belonged to powerful noble families and shaped the life of the village for centuries. Its manor house and surrounding farmland formed the heart of the local economy and society. The von Arnim family made Krüssau their main seat in 1507 after acquiring the estate as a fief. They expanded their holdings through land exchanges and left a lasting mark on the region. Later, the von der Schulenburg family took over in the 18th century and continued to influence the estate’s development. The Torbau, the gatehouse of the estate, remains a protected monument today. Visitors to Krüssau find the Jacobuskirche, a Baroque church rebuilt in 1713 by Michael Christoph von Arnim and his wife. Inside are two stone epitaphs honouring the von Arnim family, including one for Lippold I. von Arnim. The church also conceals a sealed noble crypt beneath its choir. The gatehouse, the last visible remnant of the estate, stands as a reminder of its aristocratic past.
