Katholische Pfarrkirche Neuhaus am Klausenbach

The Catholic parish church of Neuhaus stands on the slope of the Burgberg above the village of Neuhaus am Klausenbach in Burgenland. It is dedicated to Saint Stephen, king of Hungary, and belongs to the deanery of Jennersdorf in the diocese of Eisenstadt. The church is protected as a listed monument. The parish was lost during the Reformation and the present building was erected in the 17th century, consecrated in 1690. The nave has a flat ceiling and the choir a barrel vault with lunettes. A tower with a bulbous dome was added in the 18th century, and the organ loft was vaulted in the same period. Inside, a 17th-century altarpiece of Saint Stephen hangs on the apse wall. Baroque statues of Saints Florian and Donatus date from the early 18th century, and the 17th-century font remains in place. The organ, built by Gebrüder Rieger in 1911, has ten registers.
