Hotel Sacher Salzburg

The Hotel Sacher Salzburg stands on the right bank of the Salzach river, facing the historic Old Town and the Hohensalzburg Fortress across the water. Built in the late 19th century, it is the city’s only grand five-star hotel, designed to recall the elegance of its era. The hotel first opened in 1866 as the Hotel Österreichischer Hof, attracting royalty, nobles, clergy and artists. In 1988 the Gürtler family bought the hotel and restored its original style, filling its rooms and restaurants with rare artworks. Renamed Hotel Sacher Salzburg in 2000, it remains a place where history and modern luxury meet. Inside, visitors find rooms and suites decorated with period details and fine art. The hotel’s restaurants serve refined cuisine in surroundings that echo the grandeur of the 19th century. From its windows and terraces, guests can watch the river traffic and the Old Town’s rooftops.
