Schloss Dörflas

Schloss Dörflas stands in the Dörflas district of Marktredwitz in Upper Franconia. It began as a noble residence in the 16th century and later became a brewery and inn. The building has been remodelled many times, most notably in the 18th and early 20th centuries. The Sparneck family owned the castle from 1569 until 1744. Their coat of arms, dated 1609, still hangs above the entrance. After them, the Hagens and Sperls ran the brewery that grew into the largest in the area. The Festsaal was enlarged in 1902 and restored in 1988. In 2024 the owners received the Bavarian Denkmalschutzmedaille for its recent renovation. Today the building houses a restaurant on Zipprothplatz. Inside, visitors find a collection of brewery tools, casks and hunting trophies. The Renaissance wooden ceilings and Baroque staircase remain from earlier centuries. The roof and façade show the scars and repairs of fires and restorations.
