Damülser Horn

The Damülser Horn is a mountain peak in the Bregenz Forest range of the Austrian Alps. It stands 1 929 metres above sea level, rising 76 metres above its immediate surroundings. The base of the mountain is only 0.20 kilometres wide, giving it a narrow, sharp profile. The slopes fall away steeply to the southeast and more gently to the northwest. Nearby Dornbirn, eighteen kilometres to the northwest, is the closest large town. The mountain is surrounded by mixed woodland that covers the lower slopes and valleys. The area has a low population density, with fewer than fifty people living in each square kilometre. The landscape is typical of the northern Alps, with ridges and small alpine meadows appearing higher up. The contrast between the quiet forests and the open heights makes the setting peaceful. Visitors reach the summit along clearly marked hiking paths that start from the lower valleys. The views extend across Vorarlberg and into neighbouring regions on clear days. The surrounding peaks of the Bregenz Forest add to the scenery, creating a sense of remoteness despite the short distance from Dornbirn. The mountain’s modest height and gentle approach routes make it suitable for walkers of most abilities.
