Champion Hill

Champion Hill stands in East Dulwich, a quiet corner of the London Borough of Southwark. It is the home ground of Dulwich Hamlet, a club that has played football here since 1912. The stadium once drew huge crowds, with attendances over 20,000 in its amateur days. In 1931 it set a record attendance of 16,254 for an Isthmian League match against Nunhead. The ground also hosted a football match at the 1948 Summer Olympics between Mexico and South Korea. After financial troubles, the old stadium was rebuilt and reopened in 1992. The ground has seen several clubs share its pitch over the years. Corinthian-Casuals played here from 1963 to 1968, followed by Fisher Athletic from 2004 until 2009. A new Fisher club used the ground from 2009 to 2016 before moving elsewhere. Southwark Council listed Champion Hill as an asset of community value in 2013. The record attendance at the rebuilt stadium was 3,336 for an FA Cup match against Carlisle United in 2019. Dulwich Hamlet briefly left the ground in 2018 but returned after groundsharing at Imperial Fields. The stadium has a covered main stand on the north side called the Tommy Jover stand. Opposite it is a smaller covered terrace known as the "Toilets Opposite" stand. Behind both goals are uncovered terraces. The main stand houses the changing rooms, clubhouse and other facilities. East Dulwich and Denmark Hill stations are nearby, making the ground easy to reach.
