St Cuthbert's Church, Doveridge

St Cuthbert’s Church stands in the quiet village of Doveridge, Derbyshire, as a Grade I listed building. Built in the late 12th century, it combines a west steeple, a clerestoried nave with aisles, and a chancel. The church was restored twice in the 19th century, first in 1840 and again in 1869. The building holds several notable memorials. Katherine Wall died in 1713, Ralph Okeover in 1487, and William Davenport in 1640. Arabella and Francis Cavendish, who died in 1739 and 1650 respectively, are also remembered here. The church’s pipe organ, built by Steele and Keay in 1867, remains an important feature. Visitors find a peaceful interior with medieval architecture and later additions. The aisles and chancel frame the nave, while the west steeple rises above the landscape. The church belongs to a joint parish that includes six other Derbyshire churches.
