Clarach Bay

Clarach Bay lies on the Ceredigion coast in Wales, where the Afon Clarach meets the sea north of Aberystwyth. The small bay has caravan parks on both sides of the river, with the largest on the southern bank. A coastal path runs through the area, linking Aberystwyth to Borth along the shore. The Afon Clarach divides the holiday parks, creating two distinct sides of the bay. In summer the bay becomes a busy holiday spot for visitors from across Wales. The holiday parks sit close to the beach, offering easy access to the shore and the coastal path. Clarach Bay Holiday Village is the biggest park in the area, with caravans, lodges and chalets for owners and guests. It has an indoor pool, club, restaurants, mini funfair, gym, arcade and shop all on one site. Aber Bay Holiday Park sits on the northern side of the river and was renamed in 2022 after a £7.5 million investment. The new clubhouse opened in 2023 along with 65 extra caravan pitches. Ocean View Holiday Park is the only park still offering touring pitches for caravans passing through. Green Meadow Holiday Home Park is for owners only and has simpler facilities such as a laundrette and gym. The beach at Clarach Bay is wide and sandy, backed by low dunes and grassy slopes. The coastal path offers views along Cardigan Bay towards Aberystwyth and Borth. The Afon Clarach winds through the valley behind the parks, adding a quiet green space to the holiday scene. The parks stand close to the shore, with chalets and lodges arranged in neat rows. The indoor pool at Clarach Bay Holiday Village draws families on cooler days. The bay’s simple mix of sand, dunes and holiday parks makes it a familiar summer landscape in mid-Wales.
